Small Groups

One of the ways God designed for us to live in freedom is to have people in our life to help us in the journey. Connecting with others in Small Groups is a practical and enjoyable way to find that kind of life-changing community.

Discover Agape

We're all an important part of God's plan, and our life will never make sense until we discover our purpose. Discover Agape is designed to help us take steps in the important process of discovering our purpose, and there are opportunities to attend monthly.

This is God's ultimate plan for our life--to make a difference in the lives of others. When we do, the Bible tells us we will experience joy. Through the Agape SERVE Team, we hope to connect every person to an opportunity to live out their calling by using their gifts and talents to serve others in the church and the community.

LEADERSHIP

WE ARE GUIDED BY PASTORS.


The Senior Pastor Leadership Team oversees the day-to-day ministry and operations of the church and serve the congregation and are responsible for developing the church's spiritual life.
The Agape Church Senior Pastor Leadership Team are:

Dr. James Johnson-Hill
Dr. James Johnson-Hill is the senior pastor of Agape Church. Agape Church is known for our life-giving culture and focus on leading people to an intimate relationship with God on the Central Coast of California.

Pastor James is a gifted communicator and teacher who has the ability to communicate to people from all walks of life. His sense of humor, combined with his in-depth Bible teaching, gives the listener the tools to transform their lives from the inside out.

Pastor James has a deep passion for developing leaders and planting life-giving churches. He planted Agape Church in Laurel, Mississippi, in 2010 after serving as the associate  pastor at the SLO campus for 13 years. He also developed a School of Leaders, specializing in training and resourcing potential in the local body.

Nece Hill
Nece (Bonds) Hill is a native of SLO County. Nece is currently loving this season of being a devoted wife and mother all the while serving alongside her husband to lead Agape Church. She oversees the agapeKIDS ministry and small groups as well as helping with the administrative duties. In her free time, Nece enjoys hiking, swimming, discovering new eateries, creating new dishes and quality time with family and friends.

Pastors James and Nece share a vision to love the Central Coast. They believe in the spiritual heritage of Agape Church and want to see God use the ministry in a mighty way. They love serving both the SLO and Laurel campuses and they are going to give everything they have so that people can flourish.

WE ARE PROTECTED BY TRUSTEES.

WE ARE STRENGTHENED BY OVERSEERS.

The Trustees are members of the congregation who oversee the finances and direct the provision of the facilities needed by the church. They provide counsel to the Senior Pastor Leadership Team regarding the major financial commitments of the church. The Trustees serve as Non-staff Elders.
The Trustees for Agape Church are:

  • Diane Hansen
  • Christian Gonzales
  • Neda Huffman

The Overseers are pastors of respected congregations and ministries who love Agape Church and are willing to provide spiritual protection to the church. They may be called in to help in accountability matters relating to the Senior Pastor if requested by the Pastors or Trustees. The Overseers serve as Apostolic Elders.
The Overseers for Agape Church are:
  • Pastor Hal Hardy - Highlands Church, Georgia
